Ok sorry Laura I didn't realize it was your first one.  You don't like me much and it is pretty obvious.  Sorry about that.  I'm selling my Sero today so I guess I won't be troubling you further anyway.  It is a great tablet but I bought a Le Pan Mini that I like just a little bit better and can't really afford to keep both.  The Sero is an awesome tablet and I would highly recommend it and this is a great forum for it.

Ok agreed.  About what?  Just that on your early guides you didn't include the typical disclaimer stuff.  I reminded you to do that and you did.  Plus you've been much better about telling people to follow your guides, root, install roms etc, "when they feel they are ready"  I've noticed a difference.  You may not agree with me but that is what I meant.

Apology accepted mpholic.  Thank you.  You guys are great and really helpful to all the members here.  But I do think there is a certain amount of peer pressure.  Not just here but on many forums.  As a pretty experienced android user I am not shy about putting out that dissenting opinion.  Using the word fear is a pretty typical school yard peer  pressure tactic.  If you don't root you are just chicken.  That is my only point.  No disrespect meant to anyone.

Well the title of this thread is "to root or not to root". But an opinion of "maybe not" is labeled as fear.  Why ask the question if you don't want a variety of opinions?

Well sorry Laura that's not the way I perceived it and I think you have gotten much better about it.  I'm entitled to my opinion too.
That's what makes the world go round.  Right?

Hey I'm not anti root.  I root many of my devices too.  I'm anti making people feel they aren't part of the in crowd if they don't do it.  I'm anti peer pressure that's all.

Doveman, take a look at the router settings.  I was having a heckova time with my new Le Pan mini and my Chromecast.  The Sero connected just fine and the mini connected OK.  But when I tried to play YouTube on the Chromecast using the Mini I'd get constant disconnections.  Any way I discovered I had an IP address reserved in the router settings for some device I probably got rid of long ago and that was the IP the mini was trying to use.  I released that IP and everything works perfectly now.

I'd say root if you want to but don't feel pressured to do so by any means.  It really depends on the kinds of things you like to with your device.  Stock android is perfectly serviceable for most uses and there is no worry about voiding your warranty.  But if you like to experiment with what's under the hood, have at it.  Just be aware there is a certain amount of risk involved.

Sero 7 Help / Re: sero 7 LT won't boot
« on: January 01, 2014, 09:23:22 PM »
When you tried a different charger did you use the same USB cable?  It could be a faulty cable.  In fact I'd say that is more likely than a bad charger.

Also it must be a 2 amp tablet charger.  A regular phone charger won't cut it.

I have both.  But don't really use the LT.

Sero 7 Help / Re: File Manager, where is it?
« on: December 24, 2013, 10:08:17 PM »
Strangely enough.  As basic as you would think a file manager would be many tablets don't come with one pre installed.  ESFile explorer is perfect.  Install it and be happy.

Your apps in the app drawer are sorted in alphabetical order.  Don't see anything under  "F" for file?  You probably don't have one pre installed.

Yes sorry to say.  I have both the pro and the Lt.  The pro is vastly superior.  If your looking for an 8" you might want to check out a Le Pan Mini. (I have one of those too)

Crackle would be great!  With all the newly supported apps and local content streaming this is a must have device IMO.

Android does have hidden files but most likely what is on your card is pictures, movies, personal data, etc.  Whenever I swap a card I just copy everything as is, then paste it to the new card.

If you want to do it without using a PC copy everything to drop box, switch the card then copy from drop box to the new card.
