So I guess I finally got lucky for once,  as my cables are working good.  Knock on wood…

Sorry that happened to you Terry.

Got my cable today.  Mixed emotions.

The first surprise came when I looked at the return address.  It said TURKEY.  I was expecting China.   :o

It doesn't charge my phone, LG G2, at full speed.  When I monitor the actual charge current I discover it's running from 0.8 amps to 0.5 amps.  This with the original LG power supply/charger.  Adequate, but not quite what I was hoping for.  I guess I'm happy for now.  The only issue left is to see how well it holds up.  If it lasts well, I'll order another one for a spare.

Turkey?  Did you have to sign for them?  I had to go to the PO and sign.  But they were from Hong Kong,  I think.  .  Maybe they have a European warehouse.

I haven't encountered any device that can't be charged with it yet.  I did notice it charges slowly when plugged into the USB on the PC.  I haven't noticed it slower when plugged into a wall adapter.  But for the most part I do that at night.

Hi.  How do you like marshmallow?  Im using it presently,  without issues.

I don't use it enough to notice bugs. I just use my sero for gps most of the time.    I haven't had issues with the sdcard on the latest build.

My sero is still holding on…  a few bumps in the road,  but now on the latest marshmallow and used predominantly for gps purposes.

My port is still good.  But my power button is completely flat.  I have to poke my finger nail into it to make it work.  I'm too lazy to open it up and fix it.

My daily tablet is my Mi Pad.  Second in line is the Vidaa.

Some good choices:

The dell venue8
Nexus 9

Hi.

It all depends on what you want to do with it.  And the size you want.  I don't recommend the vidaa.  The uk version has a different kernel from the first and users report lagging. And it's not made anymore,  and. Zero support.

The sero8 is the same,  not made anymore,  no support, not even sure if there was one custom rom for it.

There's some great in expensive tablets available at walmart,  even some refurbished ones on walmart.com.  - if you're in the usa.

With a little more info of what you're looking for - another 7 inch?  Need gps?  Ect…
We could share our recommendations.

Is the method shown here, the only way to update the android version in the Sero Pro 7?

Mine is the Australian version, does this method work ok on them?

Thanks

Hi,  welcome to the forum.  The DoPa roms are compatible with all versions of the sero7 P.  Liquidsmooth is not.

The links in my tutorial don't support your tablet.

You'll find instructions for yours here:

If you don't have it yet:

A helpful Tutorial for adb/ fastboot is here:   http://sero7forum.com/sero-7-root-hack-mod-and-development/fastboot/

Read everything more than once before you start.  Ask questions first.   :)

You can ask here or xda.  Have fun.

Sorry for the delay.  Here is the info on the magnetic chargers that work in the sero7 P.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/201571765348

They work good for charging,  data transfer,  and flashing.

Be sure you place them in a safe place when using them,  because a hard enough bump from the side will disconnect them.  Not good if you're flashing!  They don't come off super easy,  they need a bump or tug of the cord.

It matters what you plug them into.  They can get super hot in some adapters and not hot at all in others.  Below is what I'm using without any issues. It's made by LG. NEVER use them with any kind of quick charging adapter,  they might catch on fire.  I recommend testing your adapter during the day while you're around.  My XIAOMI adapter with the same numbers on it gets really hot,  this LG one doesn't.  I don't know why.  So test first!

Makes you wonder - did the developers provide the funders of this Kickstarter project beta versions? This is most likely the last time I'll participate in a Kickstarter anything. I have contacted both the project and Kickstarter and only received a notice relating to Lightning connectors (Apple).

Shneor

Hi Shneor.  I  wonder too

There seem to be dozens of them on EBAY.  If they work out, could you provide links for the ones that actually work?

Hi syzmic.  Yes,  I will provide links.

Upate on magic cables…  POS is too kind..  really it is…
The one working cable is not working anymore.

I received my generic magnetic cables today.  I purchsed 3 sets;  cable and magnetic tip.  They have been installed in 3 different devices,  one being the sero,  and I'll let you know in a week how they work overall.

My first impressions:

The tips need to be pushed in,  as with magic cables,  until it snaps into place.  But no where near as much pressure.

The magnetic pull is more powerful.

They started charging immediately,  without issues.

Yes,  they are a total disappointment.

All my tips fit into the 6 or 7 devices I tried.  I have one in the Sero.  They don't go in easily though,  they go half way,  then they are pushed in and snap in.  A little scary how hard I pushed when inserting it into the sero,  considering our ports are so delicate. Also,  removimg them isn't too easy.  I certainly wouldn't put it in a device that I would be frequently using a micro usb storage device often.  It would seriously ruin your port,  imo,  pretty quickly,  considering the force it requires putting it in and out.

The cords:  they look good.  Ok,  got the good points out of the way.

I have one cord that works.  The strobe light ( no,  I'm not exaggerating) blinks the way it's supposed to,  differentiating between charging or data transfer.  The button works.  Data transfers. No heat issues.  Charges.

The other cord charged the first day I used it.  Hasn't charged again.  Which is probably a good thing,  as it got hot- pretty dang hot,  includimg the tip in my tablet.  Which I disconnected after about an hour or so- as soon as I discovered it.  I was monitoring the situation as many have complained about this in the backer's comment section.  Some have seen smoke,  one device reuined,  countless others also experiencing heat- some extreme heat.. And it can't transfer data on a steady pace.  The device is repeatedly connecting and reconnecting, with some spells in-between long enough to transfer a few photos,  or a small file.  So this cable is worthless.

So basically someone is already starting a class action against them for fraud,  as at least one backer is an attorney in the US.

Some tips don't fit
Cords were supposed to come in two sizes- everyone gets their ' one size fits all'.
It's not compatible with qualm quick charge,  as originally stated.
Data transfer is hit or miss.
Some of the tips can't fit the end of the cord,  as they are attached and manufacturerd improperly- crooked or somethimg.

And they are now tryimg to sell them for $29.00!! One cord with a tip! WTH

If you didn't figure it out yet,  I don't recommend you get one!   :P

But my journey hasn't ended.  My quest continues.  These magnetic chargers are all over ebay now. I For a fraction of the price.  Yup,  I ordered some.  I'll be testimg them,  and sharing,  when I receive them.. They're already manufactured though,  so it won't be a 7 month wait.

Thanks for reading.

I finally received shipping notice as well.  The product has changed to also support type  c charging.

I'm still excited about them,  even after production and shipping delays since November.

An app that can show autostarts will allow you to find and stop wakelocks.

This guide is for stopping wakelocks in google play services,  but will show you how its done and you can apply that to other wakelocks.

Hi Shneor,  first thing that comes to mind is some kind of wakelock.  An app that uses GPS has some kind of autostart permission.  Possibly.
