Sero 7 Pro Root, Hack, Mod and Development / Re: Lost root
« on: July 25, 2017, 04:59:36 AM »
Well, as nobody replied to this post, I had to move ahead. Tried the 5.1 DoPa, but it was sluggish most of the time, so I went back to 4.4.4 DoPa, and now root is working back again. Wifi is flimsy as before though. But still a working unit.

Sero 7 Pro Root, Hack, Mod and Development / Lost root
« on: June 29, 2017, 05:15:54 PM »
I'm running DOPA 3.1.10-dopa1 on my Sero 7 Pro, and it has been performing quite well in the last couple of years. But today, I managed to fill the tablet's memory, so I tried to use foldermount (too many games), and when I opened it, I learned that the tablet lost root (SuperSU says the same, ditto for Xposed and all root checkers, even though busybox is still there).
Is there anyway for me to root it again without having to reinstall the whole stuff? It broke my heart doing that last time...

Sero 7 Pro Root, Hack, Mod and Development / Erratic wifi on 7 pro
« on: July 01, 2016, 10:52:19 AM »
Hello folks,

I have my sero 7 pro for more than 3 years. About an year ago it simply stopped working. I changed the stock rom for a DOPA 4.4, and since then it has worked fine. But for the last 3 months, turning wifi on has been an issue. When it is on it works well, and it turns off ok. After a few hours being off (usually when I'm at work), I try to turn it on, but it won't work. The wifi icon on status bar never shows up, and on configuration app, the wifi button never goes into on position. I reboot the tablet and it goes back on. The next day, the same thing happens. And usually after a few hours being off. I could leave it on, but my battery is aging, and doesn't hold that well now (a replacement battery recommendation is also welcome).
Any help will be welcome.

I'd like to thank you guys. Last week, my Sero 7 Pro (rooted, original OS) suddenly started showing lots of error messages (couldn't copy files, lots of gapps were not responding). After booting, got stuck on hisense logo. Nothing made it come back. Despair arose.
After installing original version, boot it (not responding again), cleaned data, it got back.
I took the opportunity and updated it to DOPA kitkat 4.4.4. Worked like a charm, and used another link from XDA for gapps (the one in the tutorial is no longer valid), but worked ok also.
Lost my backup (I did one after the crash, but couldn't make it come back), but not losing the tablet was most important. And now I can install apps that I couldn't before, due to original Android version wouldn't allow it to install.

I bought one too at Walmart, along with the tablet. But it was missing the camera hole, and was somewhat bulky. Poetic is just the right size, but no portrait. Now I'm looking for a travel stand, but they are not cheap...  :-\ Guess you can't have everything.

The only thing I miss on present cases made for the 7pro is that they are not able to work as stand leaving in portrait position (good for game emulation), only landscape (good for movies)

Can we expect Tegra 4 / K1 on this?

Yup. Welcome to the closed world of Android SD cards. It happens with some implementation. My Samsung cell phone also needs link2sd/foldermount.

Besides screen size and memory, specs are similar to Sero 7, but as far as I can see, no Tegra 3?

Don't know, but foldermount moves it seamlessly and not caring about being encrypted or not.

2 Gb for my comixology free comics moved using foldermount. Not bad. It just takes far longer to boot (up to 4-5 minutes).

Link2SD is the app for moving apps data, and for larger ones (gameloft, hello!!), foldermount.

It's gone already!

I wanted to buy a cheap good tablet for games, and I saw the article in PCMag. That's why I went with the Sero (Asus was pretty close, with better battery life, but the Tegra 3 GPU had me sold).

It is not there either on official rom. So I guess the kernel must be worked on, so it will accept 3G dongles, isn't it?
