I just ordered a 64 gb sd for my tablet. I play a ton of games tho.....thinking 32 gigs for apps, the rest for files

Sent from my HTCEVOV4G using Tapatalk

keep your card backed up,  the 64 gb is not supported.  It could be unstable, although many people are reporting they work great.

Link2SD works great for me . There are some user apps that won't link, there are some that if linked won't run (eg, '3D Bowling'-app needs to stay internal although data can be linked) and there are some that won't move  'personal' data and use huge data files, that don't link, eg Press Reader and Next Issue. For this last group, I use FolderMount but even that doesn't move the largest group of data for these. So, gradually, you will use up internal memory.

The other issue I've run into is on flashing custom ROMs (I'm running Dopa's v 1.1 with the Phab 0.95app /screen shot button deactivation), your installed, linked apps can be 'lost'. It seems like CWM might not save/recover apps on the 2nd partition and then they have to be restored from the source or App Backup and Restore. What I've done that works, is before trying a new ROM, I unlink the apps which moves them back to internal memory, do a CWM backup and then install the ROM. I then have to re-link the apps. If you have a lot of apps, this can fill up most of internal memory and at some future point with more apps, this method won't work.  If anyone has a better way, I'd like to know. It may be how I have CWM (ver 6.0.3.2 from xboxepert)
set-up.

Youre all awesome, cant wait to check out the rest of the forum when i get done with my problem.
All your steps seem to be working. Even using Fat32 instead of Ext2.
But only apk dex and lib can be transfered on Link2SD?

I need to transfer obb.

Using ES File Manager I want to unzip obb files to sdcard/android/obb.
Add the obb file in obb folder so the games play. About 8 gig of obb files.

Link2SD instalinks the files if they are apk, dex, lib, but obb doesnt transfer. Any suggestions?

I mean I get it, if apk is larger than my internal sdcard it will instalink. But my game files I have to move to obb folder, I think its the update of a game after install. In other words, I dont use google play.

When looking at Link2SD app I look at my game file, apk 13.95mb dex3.56.. lib data Obb:815.24MB(My problem)

FolderMount fixed my problem, but I could already make a folder in external and move file with ES File Manager.
But I ran the game and it didnt work. ..So I guess its fixed to the folder to run the game.

So then my next question, how do I have games read sdcard/android/obb folder(internal) in sd_card/andriod/obb folder(external). THATS ALL THAT SEPERATES IT FROM WORKING IMO IS THE STUPID _ lol

Did it run the game with Link2SD linking  the apk, dex and lib data to the 2nd partition AND FolderMount storing the large Obb file on the 1st primary partition? That seems to work fo me in those type of programs.

periodically you need to go the pull out menu on the left side of the app and clean up the second partition and dalvik cache, and clear all the app caches.

Thanks LuckyMe for this tutorial! And so I've learned that app2sd won't work for stock rom...., which I believe I have.  Been trying to "move" the apps for a couple of days until I read this thread today.

The attachment is the screen shot of S7P not supporting app2sd!

My ext2 partition is being used (filling up), but the internal sd is still almost full..!  Not sure "linking" is really "transferring."

Thoughts anyone??

Hi tigerjohn,
Links2SD can be used with the stock rom BUT you must have the tablet rooted.  It won't work if you didn't root your Sero.

Also, the Links2SD can't move apps.  It can only link them to the sd, and allow the storage of PART of the app to the card.  Which saves internal space. Choose 'create link' instead of 'move'

Laura, thanks so much, you did us a great service! One question, I'm not sure which apps can't be linked? If it's not grayed out or I'm not notified otherwise by way of a message, should I assume that an app can be linked to the external sd card? Thanks again!!

you're welcome.  I'm glad it helped you.

system apps can not be moved/linked.   I do believe you get an error if you try, but you can use the filter to select user apps.  They can be linked/moved.
