Re: Hisense Sero 7 Pro - Mount script error
« on: October 29, 2014, 08:01:28 PM »
Hello again Laura

I though I was done bugging you for a while, unfortunately not...

I did a recovery of the "user Apps" on my second tablet.

I was setting it all up, I opened my link2sd app trying to link all the restored apps to the sd card. Id did not do it and it came back with the message:

"Mount Script Error
Mount script cannot be created
mount: Invalid argument" - OK.

I don't know if this is related or not, but, I also noticed that the Super Su app was not restored since it was not among the user apps.

Are you familiar with this problem, any suggestions how to resolve this since right now I can't link any of my apps to the SD???

Thanks
Rami

Hi Laura
Thanks again..

Regardind" Hi Rami,  with the added features of the plus links2SD I will say absolutely you will need to increase the partition.  I'd do 10gb. But that figure depends on if you plan on using a lot of apps and games.  I personally wouldn't do less than 8gbs.  That's a good size.

I don't have any games on the fst2 partition, only the ROMS and the backup and i do have an 8GB partition for that.

If I increase the size of the partition on the SD card, it'll first wipe out everything on it, would I loose anything important besides the backup?

Do you think this will help, Have you seen this issue before?

Thanks
Rami

when I figure out how to do it, I'll merge this with the Links2SD thread.

In the mean time, Rami,  confirm your tablet has root.  That could be the source of this problem.  As you noted something about super user - which must be present for root.  And root is needed for links2SD to work.

so let's start with confirming you have root first.

Hi Laura,
Since I sent you the above email and your reply regarding more space on the SD card... I did a few things that look like it work, not sure yet.

BTW, I had this problem with only one of my tablets - the newer one. The older one only has  a 16GB card in it, with only 6GB as est2 partition, and everything is working fine including the Link2sd.

In any case, I removed the 32GB from my tablet, formatted it and repartitioned it with a 10GB est2 partition. Copied all the other stuff that was on the FAT32 partition back to the card. Installed it, and tried again with the link2sd. It started to link (it showed that it has 26 apps to multi link) and about half way through the tablet just turned off and i had to reboot it. Tries a few more times and it came back with a very long error message... I saw something about the cash in the message. So, I rebooted into recovery and wiped  both cache and dalvik. Went back and tried again and this time it worked, it linked all my linkable apps...
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM AND HOW I FIXED IT, IT JUST LOOKS LIKE IT WORKED..
i ALSO NOTICED THAT 2 OF MY RESTORED APPS WERE DELETED DURING THIS PROCESS, AGAIN, NO IDEA WHY  AND I ALSO DID NOT ATTEMPT TO REINSTALL THEM???

If you have an explanation to all this I would like to hear it??

Thanks
Rami

hmmm.  It would be a guess, but maybe your SDcard just wasn't seated right the first time.  The tablet wasn't reading it, so you got the script error.  After taking it out and placing it back, it could read it.  ?  Not sure!

hope it's all good now!

Hi Laura,

Regarding "maybe your SDcard just wasn't seated right the first time.", That's actually the first thing I did, I took the card out (tablet was off), cleaned the contacts of the SD card and then reinserted it, it made no difference.

The strange part is also that while it was doing the multi linking (and I tried several times), it was stuck during the process for about 20 seconds on one app, and then it continued and finished successfully, that app (Aptoide) was removed. It seems to be OK now. Did not try to reinstall that removed app.

Could it be a heating issue?? - this tablet is in one of those leather folio / case???
It all works fine on the other tablet (don't have a case for it)????.

I don't like it when it starts acting in a unpredictable way??

Thanks
Rami

well, I don't know.  heating?  doubt it.  Usually heating issues will cause the tablet to shut down.  It's hard to say.  It might not be repeatable.   What you experienced is a PERFECT example of why it's important to have backups.  'Cause you never know!!

Thanks Laura,
Absolutely. Everything is fully backed up. And if a new app is added, I back it up right away as well  ;D

Regarding your comments at the bottom of the Link2SD tutorial you wrote:

"periodically you need to go the pull out menu on the left side of the app and clean up the second partition and dalvik cache, and clear all the app caches."
Thanks for that - didn't even know there was a pull out menu on the left :)

Also, I noticed that at the bottom of your screen (last shot of the tutorial) there are 5 buttons: From left to right: Return, Home , Small screen, Screen Shot (with the + sign inside) and the 3 vertical dots for menu... I'm missing the SCREEN SHOT button at the bottom of my Link2SD screen?. Can I add it, how???

And here I was thinking that I was already done asking you questions...

On a different note, are you also familiar with the: ASUS MeMO Pad 7" 16GB Tablet?

Thanks
Cheers
Rami

I'll have to get back to you on adding the screen shot button in the navigation bar in liquidsmooth.  Those photos weren't taken with the liquidsmooth.

I'm not familiar with the ausu Memo Pad.

A couple of things to check out when purchasing a tablet. IMO, that make a tablet worth buying. (for an adult.  I might not be so strict for a child )

1. A min. 4000 mAh battery.  I won't budge on this.  Well, unless I get the tablet as a gift.  :)  Anything below this is a waste of money, IMO, as you will not be happy with how long the battery life is.  AND even if you are in the beginning, over time you will NOT be happy.  Tablet owners grow with their tablet.  Over time you will find yourself using it more and more and will become more and more unhappy with the battery life.  You will have to spend money to upgrade your tablet as you will be tired of putting it on a charger.

2.  min. 1gb  DDR3 dram. DDR3  transfers twice the data of ddr2 with less power.  IF you can get it, go for it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DDR3_SDRAM

3. High pixel resolution requires more gb in RAM.  So MIN. 2gb for tablets with high resolution.   NOTE:  the new Sero 8 pro is 2048 x 1536 pixel IPS display, with 2gb RAM, 45oo mAh battery.   :D

Thanks Laura,
I was looking for a tablet my my 9 year old grandson and I liked the features of the Asus tablet I mentioned. I asked the question in case I wanted to root or upgrade it.
If you can find a solution to the Screenshot button (on the sreen as before) for the Liquid Smooth, it'll be great. I prefer not to use the buttons (On/Off & Volume) for this purpose.

Thanks
Rami
