Hisense Tablets..The vidaa Magic Mirror...F6281
« on: January 25, 2016, 11:43:33 AM »
I was wondering about what Hisense has been up to and found a new face in their tablet family.  So I thought I would share.

It seems they like the rockchip 3288 processor.

first on the list is the vidaa Mirror running lollipop... Originally announced as the vidaa Mirror with a 7 inch screen, the tablet was redesigned and re-named the Magic Mirror with a larger screen.

Not released yet, You can read about it below.  It's only available in china.

you can really get a good idea of how they redesigned the charging port in the photos at the link below.  ;)

The other tablet on the list - F5281 is the Sero8 pro.  The UK release of the Vidaa 8.  It has a different kernel from the Vidaa and a slightly smaller camera size.  I am aware of one custom ROM available for the vidaa and the Sero8 pro.  There could be more, but I haven't checked around.  I'm pretty happy with the performance on my Vidaa w/k.k.

The one pictured sure is pretty.  I wish I knew more about mobile processors.
When it comes to desktop and laptop processors, I go here and compare performance: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html

Laura, is there such a place for mobile CPUs?  Moreover, are Rockchips more powerful than the Sero 7 Pro's Nvidia Tegra?

Hi Bradley.  The rockchip 3288 is an excellent performing cpu.  More powerful?  I guess that depends on how you use it, but yes. I would say it is.  It does tend to get hot with heavy gaming, normal for this processor.  Not grill hot, but hot compared to the Sero7 pro for sure.

you can see the scores I got with Antutu and the Vidaa 8 - which has the rockchip 3288 in it - here:  http://sero7forum.com/hisense-vidaa-pad-general-discussions/new-rom-for-the-hisense-vidaa-pad/msg7800/?topicseen#new

I would consider  ordering the Magic Mirror from china if I wasn't heavily involved with the XIAOMI MIPad.  But the MIPad's camera has me right at the moment.  As it's better than the Vidaa 8's.

Also, I'll point out the battery size in the Magic Mirror, based on the Vidaa 8, will probably only give a person 5 or 6 hours with straight gaming. (imo)

And I'll say the build quality of the Vidaa has been excellent.

I also am very happy with my vidaa pad ordered at the same time as Laura from China. I have no interest in getting a new tablet right now. The Vidaa and sero pro serve my needs just fine. The OMA custom ROM has been rock solid.
