Moving on from the Sero 7
« on: May 24, 2016, 09:54:51 AM »
I have had about enough of these tablets. They've been a love hate affair from the start. I really like all the features, but front he get-go any custom rom other than KitKat runs like garbage and there are enough apps no longer supporting it now to make that less than desirable. Worst though is the USB ports have now broken on both of mine, and I really don't feel like spending twice as much as I paid for the tablet to buy a soldering iron and attempt to fix it myself. I thought about finding a motherboard for it and hoping the USB would last on that one but I am beginning to think there are probably better options out there for me.

I really like the new Amazon Fire tablets. I just wish they had better battery life, a bettee camera and GPS. Oh and not be locked down so I could load a custom bootloader.  I am thinking about checking out the Sero 8 or the Vidaa pad, but I don't know  what to do really. There are far too many options in the tablet world.

For now I have just been hot-charging my battery in the Sero 7 by connecting a USB power charger to the red and white wires on the connector. It's entirely inconvenient and doesn't really solve the problem of having no USB connectabilty.

It all depends on what you want to do with it.  And the size you want.  I don't recommend the vidaa.  The uk version has a different kernel from the first and users report lagging. And it's not made anymore,  and. Zero support.

The sero8 is the same,  not made anymore,  no support, not even sure if there was one custom rom for it.

There's some great in expensive tablets available at walmart,  even some refurbished ones on walmart.com.  - if you're in the usa.

With a little more info of what you're looking for - another 7 inch?  Need gps?  Ectů
We could share our recommendations.
