If you want to update to KitKat, you can root your phone and install Liquidsmooth or Dopa 2.51. Instructions are in this forum: http://sero7forum.com/sero-7-root-hack-mod-and-development/

I was thinking about this myself.  Out of those two ROM's, which one is more reliable in your opinion.  I don't need a bunch of Google stuff...

Hi John,

I think liquidsmooth is the best to date.

Thank you Laura!  The more I play around with my Sero, the more I want to modify it...  I'll let you know what happens.  But first, I'll need to brush-up and read about all the steps necessary.

you're welcome.   I think you'll find rooting and installing CWM on the Sero a little easier than all that fun we had rooting our phones!  lol.   ;D

I think you're right!  (I never did find a decent ROM I liked for the Optimus V.  How about you?)

Yes, that phone was a PITA!  Thanks for posting the stickies / ROM Tutorials etc.  I do have a few questions though...

Would you suggest I post these questions in the specific forum?  Thanks!

yes, post them in the proper forum.  Then others can benefit.

ps. NO, I never did, but I stuck with the green machine.  It was fine, it just used a TON of juice.

Will do.  Thanks.  BTW, I'm using the "Inferior Backside" Rom on my phone and it too sucks the living watts right out!  Terrible battery life.

Let's face it. Hisense is never going to update the sero 7. I just started using mine again after a whole year sitting in a drawer and I still have buyers remorse.

I wish someone would come up with an update hack. I know you can flash rom etc. I just haven't felt confident enough to give it a try, yet.

when you say update hack, do you mean a way to flash a rom using the updater app?

I haven't had the stock rom for what seems like an eternity.  I think it did have an updater app.  Correct?

This is how Xiaomi does it.  I have an updater app in my MiPad.  When an update is released, it's downloaded ( auto or manually, the user decides) and then the tablet gives you the option to "install" it.

You can also download a full rom, SuperSU, or a custom recovery.zip file, change the name of the downloaded file  to "update.zip", and use the updater to install it.

Anyway, my point is, (with root maybe) on the Sero maybe this would work using the updater.  Don't know.  Never tired it or thought about it.

Maybe some brave sole, still using stock, with root, would try it out...   ;D  someone that knows what to do if it doesn't work properly of course!!

All my S7P's are stock. I haven't delved into reprogramming them. I need to read up on it. I got my first tablet about two years ago. Until then I was still using win Vista desktop.
