No wifi... fixed!!--UPDATE: not fixed
« on: February 25, 2015, 03:06:56 AM »
So a year ago, two months after It bought my tablet wifi connection started to break. No root, no mod whatsoever, no wifi repair app did a thing. It just stopped working. After reporting to this group I sent it in for warranty repair, they sent it back but two months later the problem returned. So I just went with it, rooted and installed  Liquidsmooth, threw it may times against the wall when it suddenly lost connection ... until I couldn't take it no more.  I bought a Galaxy tab pro 8.4 which BestBuy had on sale last black friday for $200 and that was the end of my frustration. So I've been enjoying this new toy since last year when a week ago I received a wifi antenna in the mail that I have forgotten I ordered on eBay from China for $1.00 late December. So this week I replaced the antenna on the Sero 7 Pro and voila!!! (that's french  ;) ) The new antenna has a longer cable no copper tape attached to it nor does it fit perfectly, but it gets wifi reception. I'll just need to modify it a bit so it fits between the speakers but that's it. Now It'll be my back up little tablet.

Hi David. Welcome back.

Do you have any photos?  And do you have to solder anything to do that? I have a tablet in need of this.

Yeah, soldering has been known to be a problem for some people...   ;D

I'm super curious about this mod too.  I'm wondering why the original antenna quit working.
SURF'S UP, DUDE!!!

I'm away from my Sero 7 at the moment but when I get back I'll share some pics. And no, no soldering is involved. Just carefully pulling the mini coax cable and inserting the new antenna. There's a tricky part with the battery and the copper tape but I'll clear that up once I upload the pics. Here's a pics from another site so you can get an idea what it looks like. 4th pic from top to bottom.

This is an update on this original thread where I changed the tablet's antenna for different one ordered on eBay.

Sorry to reply so late but I have been away from the Hisense tablet to check the wifi performance. Well, I've just had a chance to test it and sadly enough there is no improvement, connection to wifi still breaks. The only moment when wifi works is when I have my T-mobile hotspot next to it. So it was not the antenna but some other hardware issue that's beyond me. Well, that's that and I'm done with this tablet.  Thanks all.
