Major problem. Laura, I don't remember the name of the launcher you suggested but I think it did me in. The icon in the lower left that gives the access to your apps on the home screen went missing. Tried all of the buttons on the home screen, got me no where

Smart Launcher Pro/or free version.   for future reference:  in addition to the icon, you can open the apps drawer by putting your finger on the left side of the screen and pulling it out.  The left side is set as default, you can change it to the right side in preferences/settings.  Unless you turned it off, which can also be done in preferences.

so I tried rebooting instead of power off, went from the Hisense screen to the Dopa screen and stayed there. After some time I held the power button down till it went off. Then held the power button down and the + volume down till it said recovery and stayed that way. Not knowing what to do I held the power button down till it went off then powered back on with the + button too, got the fastboot screen then it just sat there. My laptop does not see the Sero as it did when I upgraded to Lollipop. Debugging is on, the latest Philz and have done a nandroide backup but with what all that I have read, I have a brick.  :'(

IF all else fails and you can't get into recovery - charge the tablet, then re run the root package.  IF debugging is on it should restore the tablet....or get you into recovery so you can flash a backup or something from your external sd card.  You'll have an older version of CWM I believe.  So you might have to update recovery first.

Lets us know how it goes....

Nothing yet, still messing with it. I've been concentrating on my phablet, when Claro installed a new sim in it they did a factory reset now it says the IMEI is invalid so I've been beating the bushes trying to find the correct IMEI for an Ampe A83. I'm thinking of getting one of the Sero's 7's that have been refurbished, I can't have only one tablet/phablet, got to have a spare. If I get another 7 then I have a source for spare parts, mom said that you always need spare parts.  ::)

Sorry to hear that, Art. Won't Claro take responsibility for the IMEI messup? Especially since they did an unrequested factory reset!

Still no progress with the Sero? OK, last resort: take a strong magnet and move it over the Sero, preferably where the internal sd card is. If it's dead otherwise, it's worth a try. But it needs to be a strong magnet.

Best,
Shneor

My friend here who speaks chinese has contacted the factory which is sending him a message of what needs to be done, they told him that this has been a problem which a factory reset is not supposed to cause what happened, the IMEI which was set at the factory was not supposed to change, hopefully that will cure that problem all the way.

I'll try the magnet approach as nothing else has worked, I do have a strong one, we'll see what happens. It surely can't hurt anything, huh? I'll post back what happens.

Shneor & Laura,

Have had a few medical challenges which has slowed my being able to do much with the Pro, also I can't find my good magnet to try as has been suggested by Shneor. Things have settled down somewhat so I'll be searching for a strong magnet to try as suggested. I had to order some things from the USA which hasn't shipped yet so adding a good strong magnet should be doable. I'll post back with the results.
