First time poster, long time  ROM-installer, and happy fan of my Sero 7.

I followed the instructions above and they all worked. But CWM wouldn't install any ROM except for Dopa 2.0. I updated to the custom Philz discussed in the Dopa 2.6 post and that worked to install Dopa 2.6 anyway.

you are correct.  After following these instructions you do need to update to a newer version of recovery.   thanks for reminding me to update the instructions.

Hi, followed the excellent tutorial, hit a snag with installing drivers, but eventually cracked that. All three steps appeared to go successfully, I have a rooted Sero 7 Pro, SU installed and working, but when I try to boot into the new CWM recovery, the tablet hangs at the RECOVERY logo. I can turn off and on the tablet and all is well. Tried repeating step 3 but the tablet still hangs at the logo. Any help would be welcome.

Hi.

what you can do is, use my fastboot tutorial and boot to a temporary recovery and flash CWM again.  This should resolve the issue.

I have a tutorial for installing fastboot onto your PC, if you don't already have it.

http://sero7forum.com/sero-7-root-hack-mod-and-development/fastboot/

what you need to do after fastboot is installed onto Your PC:

1.Power off your tablet and remove the sdcard from it.

2.download the recovery zip file, of the recovery you want to use in the sero, onto your external sd card for the tablet.

3. then put the card back into the tablet.

4. Use the tutorial to boot into a temporary recovery ( maybe Philz recovery.  Located here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/rom-sero-7-pro-uk-au-aosp-5-0-2r1-dopa5-t3015014) .  While in philz recovery flash the recovery you have on your sdcard.

tutorial for temp. recovery is here:  http://sero7forum.com/sero-7-root-hack-mod-and-development/fastboot-to-a-temporary-recovery-flash-backup-or-restore/msg8358/#msg8358

Thanks for the reply Laura. I'm a little nervous about using Fastboot, I read a post on some random forum (can't find it now !!) from another UK owner saying that fastbboot bricked his Sero, of course he may not have used it correctly !!.
If it works I was thinking of flashing the sero7pro-philz6.58.0-dopa-v2.7 recovery as I intend to install an updated ROM at some point, would this be a good or bad idea ?

Follow my tutorials and you'll be fine. Read them as mamy times as it takes to make you understand what you are doing.  I suppose there is always a chance of bricking, but not if you follow my instructions.

Philz is a good idea, it's world wide compatible. On that same note, was the cwm compatible with your uk version? Maybe that's why it won't boot?  And also could be why the other uk owner bricked? Maybe using something before dopa made his stuff compatible for world wide use.

ok, I think I'll give it a go.

The CWM I used was what was in the package in the link you gave in your tutorial - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470998 - no idea if its country specific but its certainly possible I guess.

Thanks again Laura for your help.

Well actually, that root package and tutorial is for US versions of the sero 7 pro.  So,  that is indeed the issue.

When you use the tutorial to boot to recovery temporarily, use philz. Then use it to flash/install philz permanently.

When you flash your updated rom, be sure it says world wide use.

OK, will do. I'm going for the Sero 7 Pro (US/UK/AU) -  DoPa5 v1.3  - Lollipop rom, so all should be good lol

Thanks again Laura, you've been a massive help  ;)
